As Product Counsel, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, marketing, and compliance teams to support the development and launch of digital solutions in a rapidly evolving industry. Accountabilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including software licensing, SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, service level agreements, distribution agreements, and partnership contracts.
- Provide proactive legal guidance to product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support new product launches by identifying potential legal risks and recommending practical compliance strategies.
- Contribute to the organization’s data privacy program by drafting and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and advising on regulatory compliance related to consumer data collection, use, and disclosure.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing legal documentation such as terms of service, terms of use, disclaimers, and related policies.
- Assess legal and regulatory implications of product features, updates, and integrations to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align legal strategy with product innovation and overall business objectives.
- Provide clear and practical legal guidance to help teams make informed decisions while maintaining compliance and mitigating risk.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- 4–8 years of legal experience focused on technology transactions and product counseling, ideally gained in a leading law firm or technology-driven organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial contracting, SaaS agreements, and technology-related transactions.
- Experience advising on data privacy regulations and negotiating Data Processing Agreements.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
- Strong business acumen and collaborative mindset when working with cross-functional teams.
