Role Description
This role provides an opportunity to support financial operations by managing overdue accounts and resolving unpaid claims. As a Collections Representative, you will:
- Communicate directly with insurance carriers and customers to ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy.
- Handle resubmissions, appeals, and account reconciliations, helping to improve cash flow and support organizational efficiency.
- Develop expertise in billing systems, claims processing, and regulatory compliance, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Work in a remote or office setting with occasional travel, offering a structured, goal-driven environment and opportunities to grow within the organization.
- Impact the company’s ability to provide essential healthcare services efficiently and reliably.
Accountabilities:
- Research and follow up on overdue account balances with insurance carriers or customers via phone or mail.
- Review unpaid or underpaid claims, resubmit or appeal as needed, and verify adjustments with supervisors.
- Coordinate collection activities for delinquent accounts, preparing information for external agencies or legal action.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding account status and resolve discrepancies, preparing adjustments or refunds as necessary.
- Accurately document all collection activities and maintain updated account information in the billing system.
- Initiate payments, resubmit bills, and escalate recurring issues to supervisors for resolution.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in collections, billing, or a related customer service environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage professionally and empathetically with clients.
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, particularly in reconciling account information and identifying discrepancies.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to manage data and perform simple calculations.
- Ability to work independently in a remote or office setting while managing multiple priorities.
- Physical ability to perform stationary tasks for extended periods, including sitting, standing, and repetitive hand movements, with reasonable accommodations provided if necessary.
