Job Description

UELS is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our dynamic team in the energy industry to play a crucial role in assisting our clients in obtaining the necessary permits from local, state, and federal agencies for energy-related projects. Your expertise in navigating regulatory processes, your strong communication skills, and your ability to manage complex documentation will contribute to the successful execution of projects that drive our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.


Job Duties/Education & Knowledge (Candidate may join the team at any of the following levels):



Technician

Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Administration, etc.), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Assists with clients to gather project-specific information and requirements for permit applications
  • Prepares and assembles comprehensive permit applications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assists clients with necessary post-drilling compliance reporting, including but not limited to subsequent well drilling reports, well completion reports, first production reporting, production change reporting.
  • Monitors the progress of permit applications, tracks milestones, and proactively addresses any issues that may arise during the permitting and compliance process.
  • Assists in the maintenance of internal databases, tracking systems, and documentation related to permitting activities.
  • Prepares regular reports on permitting status, including updates on pending applications, approvals, and any potential delays.


Coordinator - Performs Technician functions including the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field, and 5–7 years of relevant experience in permitting or regulatory compliance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Researches and identifies the regulatory requirements and permitting processes applicable to each project at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Collaborates with clients to gather project-specific information and requirements for permit applications.
  • Coordinates and facilitates meetings with clients, project managers, and regulatory officials to review and discusses permit applications and any necessary revisions.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of evolving regulatory guidelines and policies that could impact permitting and compliance processes.
  • Acts as a liaison with regulatory agencies, acting as a point of contact for regulatory submissions, inquiries, and updates.



Project Manager - Performs Technician & Coordinator functions including the following:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Construction Management, etc.) with 10+ years of experience in Federal and State permitting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Oversees performance of project team, contractors, and agencies, works to support and improve results from all parties.
    • Actively engages and pursues additional permitting and regulatory opportunities through coordination with Business Development Team.
    • Solves complex problems in challenging permitting and operational environments.



    Preference given to candidates with understanding of regulatory frameworks and permitting processes at local, state, and federal levels, preferably within the energy sector. Experience with regulatory requirements in Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming preferred.


    Skills Required: Excellent communication skills- ability to communicate clearly with project team and agencies. Identify and implement process improvements through cross-functional collaborations with all related departments (internal to UELS, as well as client’s departments). Proficiency in using software tools for document preparation, data management, and communication (MS Office Suite, AFMSS II, RBDMS, project management software, etc.).
