Job Description
Role Description
Briggs & Riley is seeking a Business Development Manager to accelerate brand growth across a regional territory of specialty luggage retailers, travel retail partners, and military accounts. This is a growth-driven sales role designed for someone who thrives on identifying opportunities, opening new doors, and expanding market presence for a premium brand. While maintaining strong relationships with our customers is paramount, the primary focus of this role is driving new business, expanding distribution, and increasing sales performance across the region.
As the face of Briggs & Riley in your market, you will actively seek out new retail partnerships, strengthen existing accounts, and work closely with store teams to elevate the in-store brand experience. Success in this role comes from a combination of strategic prospecting, relationship-building, and hands-on brand advocacy that translates directly into measurable sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and secure new retail partnerships and distribution opportunities across your territory.
- Expand Briggs & Riley’s footprint within specialty luggage retailers, travel retail, and military channels.
- Develop strategic growth plans for the region, focusing on new doors, increased sell-through, and expanded assortment opportunities.
- Strengthen relationships with key retail partners to unlock incremental sales opportunities and long-term growth.
- Collaborate with retail buyers and business owners to drive sales initiatives, promotions, and in-store programs.
- Provide regular business updates, forecasts, and performance insights to support strategic planning and revenue growth.
- Serve as a trusted brand ambassador, bringing the Briggs & Riley story, craftsmanship, and product innovation to life for retail partners.
- Lead engaging in-store and virtual training sessions that empower sales associates to confidently present our products.
- Ensure that merchandising and visual presentation standards reflect the premium positioning of the brand, including fixtures, displays, and branded elements.
- Participate in company sales meetings, product seminars, and key industry trade events as a representative of the brand.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience growing sales and account management within premium or branded consumer goods.
- Experience working with specialty retail or travel retail accounts, with an understanding of how to drive success in these channels.
- A natural ability to build trusted relationships with retail buyers, store owners, and sales associates.
- A passion for storytelling and training, with a proven ability to inspire store teams through engaging product and brand education—both in person and virtually.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to manage forecasts, track performance, and provide thoughtful business insights to partners and internal teams.
- Comfort using MS Office and CRM tools to manage accounts and opportunities effectively.
- A willingness to travel regularly within your region (approximately 50%), connecting with retail partners and ensuring the Briggs & Riley brand is represented at the highest level.
- Ability to live/operate in the following sales regions: AZ, CO, IA, KS, MO, NE, NM, NV, OK, TX, UT.
Benefits
- Competitive salary plus bonus incentive.
- Generous PTO.
- Paid Holidays.
- 401K with company match.
- Profit Sharing Plan.
- Learning and development opportunities.
- Fun team building events.
- Employee Discounts.
- Scholarship Program for Employee’s children.
- A knowledgeable, high-achieving, experienced team.
