Role Description

World Kinect is accelerating growth in its core operations—and we’re seeking a visionary leader to help expand our footprint across North American Fuel operations, including retail fuels and cardlock networks.

As Director of Business Development, you will identify, evaluate, and scale new commercial opportunities that reshape how we serve customers across these channels. This is a high-impact role for a strategic builder with the commercial acumen and M&A expertise to turn market opportunities into scalable businesses. Liaise with segment leadership to identify and execute on key growth areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Creation
    • Identify and prioritize new business expansion/acquisition that align with World Kinect’s growth objectives.
    • Develop business cases and financial models to support investment decisions.
    • Lead the end-to-end process of acquiring or integrating new businesses—from concept validation to commercialization and scaling.
    • Define go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and partnership frameworks.
    • Establish KPIs and success metrics for new business, ensuring rapid iteration and performance tracking.
  • Lead Strategic Transactions & Partnerships
    • Source, assess, and execute strategic M&A, joint ventures, and partnership opportunities that advance World Kinect’s land‑based fuels business.
    • Build relationships with operators, technology innovators, suppliers, and financial partners to strengthen our pipeline of opportunities.
  • Partnership Development
    • Build strategic alliances with industry players, technology providers, and investment partners to accelerate growth.
    • Negotiate and structure partnership agreements that enable speed-to-market and competitive advantage.
  • Cross-Functional Execution
    • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of new business initiatives.
    • Influence senior stakeholders and secure buy-in for strategic investments and resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, commercial leadership, or innovation roles, with a focus on new market entry and business creation.
  • Background in transportation in NA land fuels business ideally with exposure to retail fuel, cardlock networks.
  • Experience working within M&A or corporate finance environments, including deal evaluation, financial modeling, due diligence, and integration.
  • Strong commercial acumen with P&L responsibility and experience in building sustainable revenue models.
  • Exceptional leadership presence, negotiation skills, and ability to influence at all levels.
