ABS Global, a Genus company, has an exciting opportunity for an Udder Care Specialist to support and grow our dairy business across South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota. This is a remote position and can be based in any of the supported states.
The Udder Care Specialist is responsible for driving sales within the assigned territory while serving as a trusted milk quality and udder health expert for key dairy accounts. This role partners closely with ABS sales leadership, distributors, and the Ecolab Agri Specialist to deliver data-driven, practical solutions that improve milk quality, enhance herd health, and create long-term customer value. This position requires regular travel throughout South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota, and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on dairy herd performance and customer success.
You Will:
- Grow sales within the assigned territory by expanding existing accounts and developing new customer relationships.
- Build strong, consultative relationships with key dairy accounts and act as a trusted advisor for udder care and milk quality.
- Collaborate with the Ecolab Agri Specialist in the territory to support customer initiatives and joint solutions.
- Manage distributor and representative/employee business within the territory to ensure alignment with ABS strategies.
- Communicate weekly with the Regional Manager regarding schedules, priorities, and territory activities.
- Maintain and submit monthly wins/losses reports and targeted account lists.
- Partner with ABS sales management to develop and maintain Business Planners that support market share growth and profitability while maintaining a strong customer experience.
- Provide training to ABS distributors on ABS Teat Dip Pumps, including installation and maintenance.
- Work toward becoming the “go-to” milk quality expert and participate in management team meetings for key dairy accounts.
- Evaluate milk quality opportunities and make data-driven recommendations to address udder health and milk quality challenges.
- Conduct and document comprehensive milk quality evaluations, including:
- Infection rates and clinical mastitis cases
- Bulk tank milk samples and water samples
- Historical somatic cell count (SCC) data
- Hygiene audits (teat end condition and cow cleanliness)
- Environmental audits (freestalls, alleys, pens, maternity areas)
- Milking procedures and protocols
- Develop action plans and recommendations based on evaluation findings.
- Conduct pre-evaluation audits and meet with farm management to define protocols.
- Support implementation of training for milkers and on-farm teams.
- Perform milking system audits, including vacuum levels, inflations, and pulsation.
- Accurately complete and submit travel and expense reports in accordance with company guidelines.
- Provide accurate and timely sales reports and progress updates toward established goals.
- Manage expenses, inventory, accounts receivable, and company assets within established guidelines.
- Respond to voicemail, email, text messages, and information requests within 24 hours.
- Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuously develop skills and participate in ongoing training and development.
- Comply with all company policies, programs, directives, and health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in dairy sales, technical services, or milk quality consulting.
- Experience working with distributors and channel partners.
- Familiarity with teat dip systems, milking equipment, and on-farm milk quality audits.
- Experience delivering training to customers, distributors, or on-farm teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a related field.
