Job Description

Senior JD Edwards Developer – JD Edwards World 7.3 and OneWorld XE

Location: Remote / On-site as required
Availability: Full-time support (8 hours per day)
Support Window: Daytime support aligned with PST business hours
On-Call: Weekend and holiday coverage as required

About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior JD Edwards Developer to support and maintain our current environment running JD Edwards World 7.3 and OneWorld XE. These systems are core platforms supporting critical business operations, and the role requires strong technical expertise in IBM i / AS400 development, advanced knowledge of RPG, CL, and DB2/SQL along with deep experience supporting mission-critical ERP systems.

This position will focus on production support, system enhancements, integrations, and operational stability while working closely with infrastructure, application, and business teams.

Required Technical Skills:

Core Technical Expertise:
• Strong experience with IBM i / AS400 development
• Advanced knowledge of RPG, CL, and DB2/SQL
• Hands-on experience with JD Edwards World 7.3
• Familiarity with JD Edwards OneWorld XE
• Experience working with iSeries operating systems and commands
• Deep understanding of custom RPG and CL programs, batch processes, and reports

Key Responsibilities:

JD Edwards System Support
• Provide technical support for JD Edwards World 7.3 and OneWorld XE environments
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, defects, and performance problems
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions
• Maintain system stability and reduce operational risk through monitoring and documentation

Development and Enhancements
• Design and implement enhancements to support evolving business needs
• Develop new processes and improve existing custom programs and reports
• Work with RPG, CL, and DB2/SQL to develop and maintain custom code
• Ensure proper testing and validation of deployments
• Maintain clear documentation of system customizations and workflows
• Participate in knowledge transfer and technical handoff sessions

Integrations and Interfaces
• Support integrations with upstream and downstream systems
• Maintain batch jobs, reports, and data interfaces
• Support file transfers, APIs, and middleware integrations such as EDI, WebMethods, and ETL tools
• Maintain inbound and outbound SFTP interfaces
• Analyze and resolve interface failures using logs and reports
• Improve error handling, reliability, and performance of integrations
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity issues

Job Scheduling and Automation
• Support and maintain IBM Advanced Job Scheduler (AJS) on iSeries
• Manage job dependencies and sequencing
• Prevent duplicate or missed job processing
• Support restart and recovery procedures

Change and Release Management
• Manage code promotions using Aldon Change Management
• Promote changes across environments (Development → Test → Production)
• Maintain custom database change (DBC) code
• Follow established change control and approval processes

Web Services and Communication Tools
• Configure and troubleshoot web services and REST APIs
• Use tools such as Postman for testing and troubleshooting
• Support system email services including configuration and monitoring
• Maintain automated email notification processes

Operational Support
• Perform data fixes and develop one-time SQL or RPG scripts when required
• Support custom monitoring processes including next numbering rollover controls
• Maintain custom EDI control processes for data and job completion validation
• Participate in technical walkthroughs and operational reviews
• Assist with storage optimization and cost reduction initiatives
• Support cloud migration initiatives when required

Collaboration and Work Structure
• Participate in daily stand-up meetings
• Attend weekly enhancement and status review meetings
• Work collaboratively with development, infrastructure, and business teams

Production Support Experience
• Extensive experience supporting mission-critical ERP systems
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work in complex production environments

Preferred Experience
• Experience with EDI integrations
• Experience with middleware tools such as WebMethods or ETL platforms
• Experience supporting REST APIs and web services
• Experience with SFTP interfaces and integration troubleshooting
• Exposure to cloud migration initiatives

Support Model
• Estimated availability: 8 hours per day
