This position reports to:
Legal Counsel__
The US Legal Counsel for ABB Robotics is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of business-centered legal strategies that drive increased order volume for the division while simultaneously protecting against significant risks. This role will guide and counsel stakeholders to ensure comprehension and coordination of the necessary legal measures to ensure the successful operation of the various Robotic Businesses. Advise and represent the Robotics Business’ interests regarding the various legal matters that these Businesses encounter in their respective markets.
The US Headquarters for Robotics is in Auburn Hills, MI. Qualified candidates who are remote will also be considered.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Acts as a trusted Legal & Integrity advisor to ABB leadership, providing pragmatic, business-focused counsel.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates complex commercial agreements and oversees contract management in partnership with stakeholders.
- Oversees litigation and legal affairs, contributing to local strategic decision-making.
- Ensures strong corporate governance, including support for M&A and divestiture activities.
- Advises on legally sensitive decisions and regulatory changes impacting the business.
- Manages complex legal matters requiring independent judgment and sound legal reasoning.
- Accountable for local fiduciary duties, as applicable.
- Proactively identifies risks, threats, and opportunities, developing mitigation and growth strategies.
- Collaborates with the Intellectual Property function to safeguard and advance IP interests.

Qualifications for the Role:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and active bar admission in in the USA
- 7+ years’ experience in commercial law and contractual work, ideally in a corporate environment
- Dual experience in a law firm and highly matrixed, regulated environments preferred
- Sound legal judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Comprehensive understanding of contractual legal matters and strong attention to detail.
- Strong collaborator and user of Teams and other tools; strong change agent, offering suggestions for process improvement
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $116,200 and $185,920 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
