Job Description

This is a remote position.

Job Title: Pricing Specialist
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

A transportation and logistics organization is seeking a Pricing Specialist with direct experience in drayage and intermodal logistics. The position requires someone who understands how port drayage actually moves and can protect margin in a high-variance, accessorial-heavy environment.

This role sits between sales, operations, and carriers to ensure pricing accuracy, cost validation, and profitability before freight is executed.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and manage pricing for import and export container drayage moves across U.S. ports
• Analyze lane costs including fuel, chassis, port fees, detention, demurrage, and accessorial charges
• Create spot quotes and contract pricing while maintaining strong margin control
• Partner with operations teams to validate actual execution costs against quoted pricing
• Identify pricing leakage and correct underperforming lanes or accounts
• Maintain and optimize pricing models within TMS or internal systems
• Support sales teams with competitive and profitable pricing strategies
• Track market trends across key port regions such as NY/NJ, Savannah, Charleston, and others

Requirements

Requirements

• 5 plus years of experience in drayage, intermodal, or container logistics pricing or operations
• Strong understanding of port operations and container flow
• Deep knowledge of accessorials including detention, demurrage, and per diem
• Understanding of chassis usage and driver cost structures
• Experience pricing FCL container moves, not general freight
• Ability to break down cost per move and defend pricing decisions
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and pushing back when pricing does not align with execution
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to margin impact

Preferred Background

• Experience working with East Coast or major U.S. port markets
• Hands-on exposure to drayage execution, not just pricing analysis
• Familiarity with TMS systems and pricing tools
