About this role
Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock's Leveraged Finance platform manages high yield bonds, leveraged loans and CLO's. The team is global with investment professionals in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. This is an Associate position within the Leveraged Finance research team in New York.
Responsibilities:

Work directly supporting two senior investment research analysts in New York to assess primary and secondary investment opportunities within the liquid credit leveraged finance business, including high yield bonds and leveraged loans

Participate in due diligence of investment opportunities, including conducting company research and preparing financial models and valuation analyses
-
Performing market research, including research on potential investments, industries, competitors, etc.

Assist in monitoring of portfolio investments
-
Maintain strong relationships with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Product Strategists, Capital Markets, and other groups which support the leveraged finance business
-
Experience in Telecom, Gaming, Building Products, Packaging sectors a plus, but not required
Requirements/Skills:
-
2-3 years of prior experience in investing, investment banking, transaction advisory services, strategy consulting, or corporate valuation, and/or an educational degree in economics, finance, or accounting

Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

Technical skills - ability to understand and develop financial models for companies

Communication skills - strong written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to effectively formulate and articulate opinions persuasively

Analytical and critical thinking - ability to identify and articulate key investment considerations and risks

High level of intellectual curiosity

Able to manage workload effectively and deliver quality work on schedule
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
