Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support the deployment and management of Palo Alto firewalls as part of the Project. This role involves hands-on configuration, testing, and documentation of secure network solutions. This role is a fulltime contract role, and 4 days a week onsite in Alexandria, VA
What You'll Do
-
Collaborate with security teams to install and cable firewalls at partner sites

Configure Palo Alto firewalls from initial setup to operation

Test and document all implementations, including updating network drawings
-
Replace routers with firewalls, manage policies, perform software updates, and monitor system health
-
Implement secure network designs, such as VPNs, DMZs, and segmentation policies
-
Troubleshoot security incidents and conduct root cause analysis
-
Conduct periodic firewall reviews to ensure compliance with security policies
-
Work with cybersecurity teams to align firewall configurations with regulatory standards (e.g., PCI, NIST)
-
Prepare documentation and support testing at data centers for remote site implementation
-
Manage Palo Alto devices, including firewalls, and integrate them with existing tools
-
Perform site surveys, migrations, and validation testing
-
Monitor and assess network security, implementing relevant technologies as needed
-
Develop technical documentation, including SOPs, network diagrams, firewall rules, configurations, and change control records
What You'll Need
Required:
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field; or 8+ years of equivalent work experience in Palo Alto security solutions
-
Extensive experience with Palo Alto firewall configuration and management
-
Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for documenting application architecture
-
Experience with Microsoft Excel for software requirements documentation
-
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
-
Knowledge of Access Control Lists (ACLs), NAT, VPNs, IPSec tunnels, and DMZ architecture
-
Experience coordinating firewall requirements with security teams
-
Proven ability to migrate router configurations to firewalls
-
Administration expertise with Palo Alto firewalls and related architecture

Two years of experience using Panorama
Preferred:
-
Experience in designing and implementing complex network technologies (Data Center, Cloud, Hybrid)

Familiarity with compliance standards like PCI, NIST

$60.00 - $63.00 per hour
The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
