Role Description
The Customs and Trade Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for client import and export activity, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements and company standards. This role manages documentation, reporting, and communication to support efficient cross-border shipments and regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a primary point of contact for client import and export activities
- Prepare, review, and maintain import and export documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and customs declarations
- Submit and track shipments with CBP and other regulatory authorities to ensure timely clearance
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams to resolve compliance or documentation issues
- Review import and export documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all client and regulatory requirements are met
- Monitor updates to customs regulations and trade laws and communicate relevant changes to internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions, correspondence, and filings
- Assist with internal audits and compliance reviews as needed
- Notify clients and carriers promptly regarding shipment status and communicate any process exceptions to management
- Respond to inquiries from internal teams and external partners regarding customs processes and compliance requirements
- Proactively identify and suggest process improvements
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks accurately and on time
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Positive attitude, high energy, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic

Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Available for occasional domestic travel
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide sponsorship
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Transportation, Logistics, International Business, or related field
- Customs House Broker License
- Knowledge of FTZ operations and U.S. Customs procedures and regulations
- Experience with government documentation related to imports and exports
