Job Description

Role Description

The Automation Sales Engineer will provide support to the Automation Sales Engineering team through high level deal facilitation, processing deal transactions, and financial analysis.

  • Works with customers and automation architects on pre and post-sales engineering designs, specifications, and solutions for advanced automated systems and solutions leveraging robotics, industrial scanning and camera technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
  • Develops solution BOMs and implementation plans for complex automated solutions.
  • Understands engineering principles of AI, ML, Robotics, scanning and camera technologies, and the interaction capabilities of the technologies.
  • Assists sales staff in assessing potential application of advanced automated systems and solutions to satisfy customer needs.
  • Tests and demonstrates prototypes of advanced automated systems for customers.
  • Solves complex problems that may require unique solutions (e.g., unique applications of existing technologies) that are used across the business in similar situations.
  • Leads problem resolution, identifies appropriate resources, develops contingency plans.
  • Coordinates complex solutions and projects using technical resources, including resolving multi-country issues.
  • Demonstrates wide latitude for decisive action which could impact business initiatives/programs; exercises independent judgment within broadly defined practices/policies in selecting approach and technique.
  • Leads and manages semi-formal teams or significant portions of a large permanent team including hiring, performance management and terminations.
  • Leads negotiations on complex deals which may be primarily technical, financial or both.
  • Responsible for revenue attainment, margins where appropriate, and personal expense.
  • Average to high individual quota for business in like roles or strategic growth potential to be there within a year or two.
  • Moderately complex deals with a few large, complex deals.
  • Provides input to policies and practices.
  • Leads others in their development.
  • Remote position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Uses advanced domain/solutions knowledge to competitive advantage.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of solution design, and technical and functional specifications of advanced automation.
  • Experience in robotics, machine vision, and barcoding required.
  • Develops and adapts advanced sales strategies to unique customer needs.
  • Creates customer partnerships.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication.

Requirements

  • This position is based in a professional office setting and regularly utilizes workplace technology, including computers, smartphones, multifunction printers, cloud-based filing systems, and collaboration tools.
  • This role requires physical capabilities that support the successful execution of key responsibilities.
  • The employee regularly engages in verbal and written communication with colleagues and clients to address project-related inquiries and must be able to convey accurate information clearly and efficiently.
  • The position involves remaining seated at a workstation for approximately 75% of the time, with occasional movement throughout the office to access equipment, supplies, and shared resources.
  • Daily tasks include consistent use of computers and standard office technology such as keyboards, printers, and multifunction devices.
  • The role also involves transporting equipment boxes weighing up to 25 pounds within the building and to other offsite locations as needed for project support.
