Job Description

• Partner with and support business teams by providing advice on a range of laws and regulations, including those governing consumer protection, financial products and services, and digital advertising • Support the development and launch of new products, services, and partnerships • Ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations, and assist in interpreting new and existing legislation that may impact Hometap • Provide pragmatic day-to-day advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business interests and ensuring an excellent customer experience • Support the legal team on other key initiatives ranging from capital raises to regulatory engagements

Job Requirements

J.D. degree, with 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a minimum of 2 years in an in-house role
Experience with consumer lending products required, with a focus on serving as product and/or regulatory counsel. Mortgage lending experience is a major plus.
Strong understanding of financial services regulation, compliance requirements, and the overall consumer financial services ecosystem
Intellectual curiosity – you’re always looking to understand context and continuously improve
Fluency in translating legal advice into actionable guidance for innovative product and business teams
Ability to review, draft, and negotiate contracts at a fast pace with accuracy
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Experience working with cross-functional teams while owning and driving projects from beginning to end
Leads with empathy in all internal and external communications
