Job Description

The Bourne Housing Authority (BHA), established in 1965, is dedicated to providing and maintaining affordable housing for low and moderate-income individuals in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 121B. With a five-member Board of Commissioners responsible for policy and administration, BHA aims to ensure safe, decent, and sanitary housing conditions for its residents. Our administrative team, consisting of various roles including an executive director and housing administrators, strives to promote affordable housing solutions and manage resources efficiently, empowering residents toward economic self-sufficiency. We operate under the strict guidelines set forth by regulatory bodies such as the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and HUD. As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission by ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Authority while contributing to the well-being of our diverse community, which ranges from senior citizens to families and individuals with special needs across Bourne, Pocasset, and Buzzards Bay.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the executive director and other staff members as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of budgets and financial documents.
  • Maintain and organize records, correspondence, and various documentation related to housing programs.
  • Coordinate communications between the BHA and residents, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Assist in the application process for housing assistance programs for residents.
  • Support the implementation of policies and procedures as set by the Board of Commissioners.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in administrative support is a plus.
  • Proven experience in administrative or office support roles, preferably in real estate or public service.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with residents and staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A commitment to the mission of the Bourne Housing Authority and a passion for serving the community.
