Job Description
Role Description
As a Fractional CMO, you will work directly with law firm owners to diagnose marketing challenges, design direct-response strategies, and ensure execution through coaching and accountability. You will combine strategic marketing leadership, analytical thinking, and business coaching to help attorneys transform their marketing from guesswork into predictable growth systems capable of supporting firms scaling from $10M to $30M in annual revenue.
This is not a traditional in-house CMO role. Instead, you will serve as a strategic advisor across multiple law firms, helping owners develop clear marketing strategies, evaluate vendors, and implement systems that drive measurable growth. Most work will take place remotely via video meetings, where you will build trusted relationships with firm owners and influence outcomes through clear communication, insight, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
-
Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Conduct marketing diagnostics with law firm owners to identify strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities.
- Design and guide direct-response marketing strategies that drive measurable client acquisition.
- Help firms develop marketing systems including funnels, calls-to-action, and list-building strategies.
- Evaluate existing marketing campaigns and realign strategies when ROI is not being achieved.
-
Client Coaching & Accountability
- Coach law firm owners on marketing strategy, execution, and performance improvement.
- Provide constructive feedback when marketing efforts are not producing results.
- Balance encouragement with accountability to ensure agreed-upon actions are implemented.
- Help clients overcome common entrepreneurial mindset challenges such as perfectionism or hesitation.
-
Performance & Metrics
- Identify and prioritize key marketing KPIs across multiple campaigns.
- Use CRM systems, dashboards, and analytics to track marketing performance.
- Present marketing data in clear, actionable ways that drive better business decisions.
- Lead quarterly strategic reviews with clients and marketing vendors.
-
Vendor & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with internal HTM team members and external marketing vendors.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure alignment with client strategy.
- Facilitate productive discussions when vendors disagree on marketing direction.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 90 days, you will:
- Build strong relationships with HTM clients and internal team members.
- Conduct marketing diagnostics for assigned law firms.
- Identify quick-win improvements to underperforming campaigns.
- Implement KPI tracking and reporting systems.
- Lead strategic quarterly reviews focused on measurable results.
Long term success means helping law firm owners turn marketing into a predictable growth engine that supports firms scaling through the $10M–$30M revenue range.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- MUST HAVE 10+ YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER.
- Have served as a CMO, marketing strategist, or senior marketing consultant.
- Have experience working with growing service-based businesses.
- Enjoy coaching entrepreneurs and business owners.
- Are comfortable providing honest, constructive feedback.
- Can quickly diagnose marketing challenges and identify root causes.
- Thrive in a remote, client-facing leadership role.
Required Experience
- Proven experience helping businesses scale from $10M to $30M in revenue.
- Significant experience designing and leading direct-response marketing campaigns.
- Demonstrated track record of driving measurable ROI.
- Experience working with small to mid-sized service businesses.
- Strong understanding of funnels, lead generation, conversion optimization, and list-building.
- Experience evaluating marketing vendors and campaign performance.
- Ability to translate marketing data into clear business decisions.
This Role Is Not for You If
- You prefer a slow-paced corporate environment.
- You dislike accountability or performance metrics.
- You prefer task-based marketing execution rather than strategic leadership.
- You struggle managing multiple clients simultaneously.
- You have never supported or led a small-to-mid-size service business.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $110,000
- Performance Pay: Up to $182,000 total annual compensation depending on client roster and performance.
- Your earning potential scales with the impact and results you deliver — not simply the hours you work.
If you are an execution-focused leader who thrives on accountability and enjoys helping business owners follow through on what matters most, this role will challenge and reward you. Apply only if you are ready to lead from the front and deliver real results.
