Role Description
Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager to support the construction of a utility-scale solar project. This role serves as the on-site safety leader and owner’s representative, responsible for overseeing all aspects of site safety performance and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Cypress Creek Renewables’ HSSE policies and standards.
The Site Safety Manager will provide strong field leadership, partner closely with construction management and contractors, and drive a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site safety representative for Cypress Creek Renewables during project construction.
- Oversee and monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and company HSSE policies.
- Conduct daily site safety observations, inspections, and formal audits; track and close corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and high-risk work plans.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety orientations.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to field leadership and craft personnel to strengthen safety performance and leadership behaviors.
- Act as a problem-solver and mediator for safety-related conflicts, promoting fair and consistent enforcement of safety expectations.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and metrics for project leadership and corporate HSSE.
- Partner with project management to integrate safety into scheduling, planning, and execution activities.
- Serve as a visible safety leader on site, modeling Cypress Creek Renewables’ safety values and expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–10 years of construction safety experience, preferably in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil/industrial construction.
- Proven experience functioning in an owner’s representative or site safety leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and 1926) and construction safety best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a field environment, influence without authority, and build strong working relationships with contractors and project teams.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and safety coaching.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction (Required)
- OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction (Strongly Preferred)
- Additional preferred certifications: CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), First Aid / CPR / AED, Train-the-Trainer or equivalent safety training credentials.
Leadership & Core Competencies
- Strong field presence with the ability to coach, mentor, and influence positive safety behaviors.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving in dynamic construction environments.
- High integrity with consistent enforcement of safety standards.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and managing challenging safety situations professionally.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Procore/HIS.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. PPE personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection).
- Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
Location
The role is based in Wilson, AR or remote across the US with an expectation of having a rotational schedule reporting to Wilson, AR (5 weeks on, 1 week off).
