Role Description

Remote position but candidates must be attending school in the Capitol market area. At WM, early career talent is more than the future of our business—they're a vital part of our present. WM's Summer Internship Program is a 12-week paid experience designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world application. Interns are empowered from day one to contribute meaningfully, explore new areas of the business, and grow their professional skillsets in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

As a WM Intern, you won't be sitting on the sidelines, you'll be in the mix. You will work alongside experienced professionals on real projects that make an impact for WM. You'll get real-world experience in key aspects of our business, including:

  • A meaningful project you'll own and present to senior leaders at the end of the summer.
  • Skill-building workshops.
  • Connecting with leaders through executive roundtables.
  • Building community with fellow interns from across the country.

This internship is part of the Capitol market area sales organization, a team known for its solid sales leadership and teamwork. You'll get to explore the various products WM offers to the Public Sector while learning how things work behind the scenes and help WM drive purpose in everything we do. Whether you're diving into data, pitching ideas, or helping make things run smoother, what you do will matter—and we want to hear what you think.

Qualifications

  • Must live and work in the US.
  • Interns must have a high school diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor’s degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship.

Requirements

  • Uses problem solving skills, determines problems, and understands fundamental parts of the problem.
  • Conducts analysis as directed, and prepares and delivers insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Synthesizes findings and draws conclusions from analyses and makes oral/written recommendations to supervisor and/or manager.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.

Benefits

  • The expected base pay range for this position is $23.00 an hour. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
