Job Description

PUBLIC RELATIONS VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCIAL SERVICES (NYC/Tri State Area based)

KCSA Strategic Communications is an integrated communications agency that boasts expertise in Media and Technology, Cannabis and Psychedelics, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Women’s Health and Wellness. Our team of PR, IR, and Digital/Social Media professionals leverage traditional communications, strong financial and media relationships, and digital strategies to tell our clients stories passionately and persuasively. We offer a variety of services to help companies elevate their media profile, raise capital, create a corporate narrative, manage crises, and so much more. At KCSA, your story doesn’t just get told: it gets celebrated!

Within KCSA, the financial services PR team specializes in working with companies at all stages who

want to rise above the industry buzz and position themselves and their leaders as experts in their

space. This team specializes in all kinds of earned media, but places an emphasis on broadcast opportunities, broadcast media tours, etc.

We’re looking for a Public Relations Vice President who’s as tuned into the daily financial news cycle as they are excited about building trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and media. If you check the headlines as you brush your teeth, keep in regular touch with current business reporters and producers, and have a knack for building and leading capable teams, we’d love to hear from you.

Why you’ll love working here:

At KCSA, people come first. We invest in our team the same way that our clients invest in us. Here’s what you can expect:

  • A talented team of PR professionals who love to collaborate and push boundaries.

  • In-house investor relations and social media teams for integrated campaigns.

  • 100% remote flexibility and a commitment to true work-life balance.

  • Generous 401(k) contributions (½ up to 12%), full health benefits and paid time off.

  • Quarterly mental health days and a day off for your birthday.

  • Half-day summer Fridays to soak up some sun.

  • Generous new business commission policy

What you’ll do:

As a Vice President on our financial services team, you’ll:

  • Create comprehensive client plans and strategies, demonstrating a clear knowledge of their vision and translating that into communications objectives

  • Constantly flex your media relations muscles, pitching clients and exeutives to journlists, reporters, and producers

  • Provide strategic counseling to clients. KCSA accounts require more than just a quarterly or annual strategy. The VP at KCSA is responsible for creating bespoke strategies to serve the ongoing growth of the account, as well as making sure that tactical activities ladder up to agreed upon strategies.

  • Serve as point of contact for 6-9 client accounts

  • Lead team of AAE, AE, SAE and AD level employees providing guidance and direct feedback on performance and deliverables. VPs set the tone for KCSA. VPs help foster growth and develop talent into the next generation of PR leaders.

  • Maintain key relations with target media contacts.

  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with clients, KCSA clients consider the VP a strategic member of their team, not their “agency lead”. KCSA VPs maintain a regular line of face-to-face, call and email communication with their clients.

  • Write and/or edit all final drafts of documentation and media for clients

  • Participate in new business initiatives including drafting of proposals/decks and pitching potential clients.

Who you are:

  • Prior PR agency experience, 6-9 years direct experience in financial services PR

  • Experience managing account teams of 2-4 employees

  • Business relationships with key journalists and conference organizers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience using media databases

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

At KCSA, we know great talent comes in many forms. Even if you don’t check every box, we encourage you to apply. Your skills, perspective and passion could be exactly what we’re looking for.
