POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vice President, Access to Care Solutions leads the strategic vision, design, and execution of the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) national Access to Care portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals to eliminate barriers to high-quality cancer care. This executive role provides strategic oversight of both business unit operations and program delivery, managing a multidisciplinary team of approximately 34- people and advancing high-impact initiatives that drive barrier reduction, innovation, and measurable outcomes across the cancer care continuum. As a seasoned leader in program management and access to care, the Vice President cultivates strategic partnerships, oversees nationwide implementation of scalable patient service programs (e.g., transportation and lodging), and ensures operational excellence and impact. The role is instrumental in shaping national strategy, strengthening enterprise capabilities, and advancing ACS’s reputation as a leader in access to care solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead and set the national strategic direction for ACS’s Access to Care programs. Align enterprise strategy with scalable delivery solutions, building a unified, high-impact approach to reduce care access barriers and advance health equity. 25%
  • Oversee implementation of access to care services, including program design, vendor and partner management, compliance, and evaluation. Ensure enterprise-wide adoption of standardized, evidence-informed models that drive quality and consistency. 20%
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams, including directors and senior directors. Champion leadership development, cross-functional collaboration, and operational alignment across departments and teams. 20%
  • Lead continuous innovation in access to care solutions by identifying trends, piloting new service models, and leveraging technology to close gaps in transportation, lodging, and navigation services. 15%
  • Cultivate relationships with national partners, healthcare systems, community organizations, and advocacy groups. Represent ACS at key forums and coalitions to elevate its leadership in equitable cancer care access. 10%
  • Drive the development and integration of performance metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess impact, inform decisions, and position the Access to Care portfolio for mission investment and philanthropic growth. 5%
  • Ensure alignment with ACS policies, contractual obligations, and compliance standards. Oversee financial stewardship, risk mitigation, and responsible allocation of resources across programs and initiatives. 5%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Preferred Degree: Master’s Degree
  • Years of Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership in nonprofit health programs, access to care initiatives, or enterprise-level service delivery
  • Minimum 5 years of executive or senior leadership experience managing large teams, partnerships, and cross-sector initiatives
  • Proven ability leading complex, multi-site program portfolios and deliver measurable outcomes that improve access to care
  • Experience overseeing vendor relationships, high-impact partnerships, and community health programs, with strong financial and compliance acumen

  • Deep expertise in access to care, including transportation, lodging, navigation, and social determinants of health
  • Visionary leader with a proven track record in strategy development, program innovation, and system-level change
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to lead through influence and collaboration
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills; able to interpret complex data, align performance metrics, and drive informed decision-making
  • Skilled in navigating large, matrixed organizations and fostering cross-functional alignment
  • Passion for advancing equitable access to cancer care and addressing systemic barriers that impact underserved populations

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel including evenings and weekends, to support strategic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, or team leadership activities.

The starting rate is $175,000 to $190,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
